'Tis the Season

Christmas season is approaching, and the weather is starting to cool down. Now is the time to start wintertime festivities in Arizona. Most of the year in Arizona outside activities are out of the question due to the extreme heat. Now it is the perfect time to go out and about and see what activities the city has to offer.

As an Arizonan who has lived in the valley my whole life, Zoo Lights at the Phoenix Zoo has been one of my favorite memories and Christmas time traditions since I was young. The Phoenix Zoo puts up light displays around the zoo that you can walk through, and they have activities including photos with Santa and snack bars. Although this is targeted towards children, I think there are aspects of fun that appeal to all ages!

Another activity for the holiday season is taking a Polar Express ride on the Grand Canyon Railway. The train ride begins in Williams, Arizona which is about a 2-hour car ride from Phoenix. The train leaves at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. every night. You wear your favorite Christmas pajamas, and the train ride is about an hour to the Grand Canyon. The entire trip lasts around 90 minutes. This trip will allow you to see the trees which more than likely will be covered in snow and put you in the real holiday spirit even in the Arizona desert.

  1. There is nothing better than Christmas honestly. I've never heard of the Polar Express ride but sounds like something worth trying. You can forget going to Flagstaff for the snow on your list as it sucks that it doesn't snow here in Phoenix. But overall enjoyed reading your blog and all the things that can be done during Christmas time.

  2. What a fun and timely post. I especially appreciated the setup you provided here to invite the reader into the conversation.

Glendale Glitters is one event that my family really enjoys every year.
